Cozy sweaters, bonfires, falling leaves and the approach of the holiday season. Who doesn’t love Autumn?  It’s a busy time, for me anyway, and in a very good way. For me fall brings many opportunities to gather with family and friends that i didn’t see over the summer. It’s time to celebrate friendships and lots of fall birthdays.

My friend Mari and I came up with this whiskey drink incorporating one of the season’s favorite flavors…apple! This was a surprisingly simple drink to make. I’d be willing to bet you have all of the ingredients on hand. The warm whiskey was brightened with the tart apple cider and squeeze of lemon and the dash of pure maple syrup added just a bit of sweetness. Simple, crisp, boozy…perfection.

We named it the Drunken Apple…cheers!

For one drink:

2 oz. whiskey (we used Basil Hayden)

2 oz. apple cider

juice of 1/4 of a lemon

drizzle of pure maple syrup

ice

apple slice for garnish

Combine all but the apple slice in a shaker with ice. Shake the heck out of it. Fill your glass with ice. Pour and drink.
