Everyone knows, peanut butter and chocolate just go so well together. And these Peanut Butter Swirl Brownies don’t disappoint. They were moist, dense and chocolatey like any good brownie and the peanut butter filling was just the right amount of  something extra. And they looked so, so pretty with the peanut butter swirls. There is an easy trick to this so read on!

You could use any favorite boxed brownie mix or recipe here and just add the peanut butter filling. I have made brownies from scratch before, but I don’t say no to a mix, especially when short on time.  For this recipe, I used Ghirardelli Double Chocolate Brownie mix – the one with the chocolate syrup pouch.

For the Peanut Butter Filling:

4 tbs unsalted butter, melted

1/2 cup confectioners sugar

3/4 cup smooth peanut butter

1/4 tsp coarse salt

1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract

Combine ingredients in a small bowl and mix well. Set aside.

Preheat your oven according to your brownie recipe and prepare your brownie mix.

In your greased baking pan (I used an 8 X 8), pour in 1/3 of your brownie mix. Using 2 tablespoons, drop tablespoons of the peanut butter filling about 1 inch apart. Cover with another 1/3 of the brownie mix. Repeat your dollops of peanut butter filling. Cover with remaining mix and dollop with remaining filling.

To create the swirl: Insert a butter knife into your brownie mix/peanut butter filling until you hit the bottom and drag down to the end of the pan. Do this crosswise and lengthwise until it looks like a pretty brownie peanut butter marble.

Bake according to your recipe – don’t over bake your brownies people! I purposefully set my timer about 8 minutes earlier than the recipe calls for and use a cake tester to see if they are ready to come out of the oven.

Let cool about 10 minutes or for as long as you can keep your people away. Honestly I don’t even know if these keep well because we didn’t need to find out.
